I’m currently studying literary modernism by closely reading stories of James Joyce, William Faulkner, and Joseph Conrad. My goal is to write stories that use elements of modernism but still hold the reader’s attention.
In January the Chicago Tribune published my essay, My Breakup with the Bears.
I’m again participating in NYC Midnight‘s Short Story Challenge during this last week of January.
Last year (2025) My Round 1 submission “Kedge Saves an Ace” received honorable mention. In 2022 my Round 1 submission “The Turrim” placed 3rd of 28.
In 2015 my radio play “Freedom Stream” was performed by RG Productions in a one-time show at PM&L Theater in Antioch, Illinois.
“Freedom Stream” was originally a 500-word story I wrote in 2014 for Waukegan Public Library‘s Annual Ray Bradbury Creative Contest. It placed first in the written adult category.
I’ve participated in writing workshops at StoryStudio Chicago and Chicago Dramatists.
